MY TAKE ON SUICIDE & SUICIDE KILLINGS

 

..........and let not your own hands throw you into destruction.......{Quran 2:195}
.......and do not destroy yourselves; surely, God is Most Gracious to you. {Quran 4:29}
It's clearly stated in the above Scripture concerning the destruction that is suicide related in the society as a whole by the use of plural form, and thus they may be interpreted as a warning to all mankind against own self destruction and suicide which results when individuals are indulged i selfishness and egotism and lack any feeling of responsibilty towards one another or towards the well being of all mankind or society.
However, they may also be interpreted, especially the last verse, as forbiding indivudual suicide. According to the faith of a Mu'umin who believes and truly worships his Creator, human life belongs to Him, and such faith requires the believer to be more forbearing in facing the ups and downs of life. The belief in God and the eternal life to come inspires the believer to be greatful to Him in times of ease, and to be patient in times of adversity, as a tradition of the Prophet (SAW) reported by Muslim and Ibn Hanbal, clearly states. The Prophet (SAW) strictly warned against commiting suicide by any means, mentioning stabbing and poisoning merely as examples [Reported by al-Bukhari and Muslim]
In addition to being against the true faith in God, committing suicide is also against the social well being. Every individual owes a great deal to the society, since he/she has grown up in it and has benefitted from its resources. The family, in caring for its children, receives various kinds of help from other individuals, families, the society as a whole, and the state as its representative. Through education and earning one's living, the individual receive assistance from others or goes through dealings of mutual benefits. Accordingly, an absolute right of the individual over his/her life cannot be justified, even if you dont need yourself, someone else needs you. It is the right and obligation of the society to guard the individual's safety and health.
A suicide attitude points to a psychological imbalance and unhealthiness, and this, in turn, may reffer to a social failure in securing individual human rights and social solidarity. One has to always keep in mind that the responsibilty of any one who commits suicide depends on his/her  psychological and mental state, and any pressures or weaknesses that uch a person suffers have to be considered, but they originate from him/her hence its not religious accountabilty or a riligious act but just out of the individual's own darkside of imaginations hence its and individual not a religion.
God, the only one who knows what is in the depth of one's self and mind, God is the only one who can judge and requite one who goes through such a horrible experience.
Then there is this other caliber the suicide bombers, they are totally mislead and and have no basis for their belief, had suicide been the teaching of Islam I doubt if it would have made it over 1400 years after the last Prophet was sent to mankind, if suicide killings would be Islamic then the world would be almost vaccant due to the faithfuls commitiing a faithful act of suicide. On the contrary before I joined ISLAM I used to think that suicide was part of ISLAM I hated ISLAM for that, I started researching on the same from Islamic litrature and found exactly the opposite to what my brainwashed mind belived and thought of ISLAM. I found out that ISLAM is the most peace oriented religion and anyone doing or advocating for violence is just an individual and not the religion, a good example for the non Muslim is the fact that most pubs are filled with people bearing baptisim names, can we claim that all baptised people ars drunkards, that would be cheap thinking and unjustifed judgement of individual's charater.  However that is not the case the teachings of ISLAM safe guard and advocate for cohession and peaceful co-existance as we can see from the following verses, you will also realize that there was no room for suicide in the scriptures. As a matter of fact all Scripture from the Torah of Moses, Zabur of David, Injil of Jesus and the Quran when talking about killing at no time did the Scripture include suicide

Quran Al- Maida (5): 32
مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ كَتَبْنَا عَلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَنَّهُ مَن قَتَلَ نَفْسًا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِي الأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَا أَحْيَا النَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَلَقَدْ جَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِالبَيِّنَاتِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فِي الأَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُونَ
Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.
Quran Hajj (22): 40
الَّذِينَ أُخْرِجُوا مِن دِيَارِهِمْ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ إِلَّا أَن يَقُولُوا رَبُّنَا اللَّهُ وَلَوْلَا دَفْعُ اللَّهِ النَّاسَ بَعْضَهُم بِبَعْضٍ لَّهُدِّمَتْ صَوَامِعُ وَبِيَعٌ وَصَلَوَاتٌ وَمَسَاجِدُ يُذْكَرُ فِيهَا اسْمُ اللَّهِ كَثِيرًا وَلَيَنصُرَنَّ اللَّهُ مَن يَنصُرُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَقَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ
[They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right - only because they say, "Our Lord is Allah ." And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.
Quran Taubah (9):6
وَإِنْ أَحَدٌ مِّنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ اسْتَجَارَكَ فَأَجِرْهُ حَتَّى يَسْمَعَ كَلاَمَ اللّهِ ثُمَّ أَبْلِغْهُ مَأْمَنَهُ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لاَّ يَعْلَمُونَ
And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah . Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know.
